Construction of Polygons

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

We can create perfect regular polygon using a compass, a protractor and a ruler.

STEPS:

1. Use a compass to create a circle.

2. Mark the center point and draw a radius in the circle you have drawn.

3. Count the sides of the given polygon (e.g. triangle=3 sides)

4. Divide 360 by the number of sides.

5. Using a protractor, mark circle with the quotient from step 4.

6. Draw a line from the center point to this mark.

7. Repeat until you have marked the whole circle.

8. Using a ruler connect all the points you have marked.
